San Diego Zoo (wiki)
2920 Zoo Dr, Balboa Park (1.8 miles) 619-234-3153
This is a must-see if you've never been, and it's less than two miles away. The San Diego Zoo is one of the largest zoos in the world. If you walk the grounds instead of taking the buses, you will get better views of the animals and a good workout going up and down all the hills.
San Diego Wild Animal Park (wiki)
15500 San Pasqual Valley Rd, Escondido 760-747-8702 (30 miles)
This park focuses on African animals and has many of them roaming in large areas. You can take a tram ride around them that is very worth while. Colleen and Kyle saw a baby elephant being born when they were last there. This one requires a lot of walking.
SeaWorld (wiki)
500 Sea World Dr, Mission Bay 800-257-4268 (6.8 miles)
This park is close and fun. Some shows you must see are: Shamu (orcas), dolphins, seal and otter, and the shark exhibit. The view of Mission Bay from the Sky Tower is worth the ride.

Sunset Cliffs
Sunset Cliffs Blvd, Fleetridge (9.3 miles)
Pull over anywhere along Sunset Cliffs Blvd for a very beautiful view of the Pacific Ocean. You will see waves crashing against the picturesque cliffs. This is nice spot to watch the sunset and lots of young couples show up to do just that. Watch your footing if you venture past the guard rails.
Scenic View of Mission Bay
1968 Illion St, Mission Bay (5.9 miles)
There is a parking lot here that over looks Mission Bay. The view is very pretty, especially at sunset. It is also a fond memory of mine as I used to go by it on my bicycle when I would ride to my friends house as a kid.

Seaport Village
837 W Harbor Dr, San Diego (4.7 miles)
Seaport Village has a lot of little shops and plenty of places to eat. It's best described with a quote from their web site:
A 14 acre waterfront shopping, dining and entertainment complex recreating a harbor side setting of a century ago. Includes 54 one of a kind shops, 13 casual dining eateries, 4 fine dining waterfront restaurants. Opened in 1980.
We liked Pier Cafe for its great view of the harbor. It actually sits over the water.
